Foundation & Awareness S1 Ep 2 -The Sacred Economics of Your Energy
The Sacred Economics of Your Energy
What you consume is consuming you: A guide to conscious living
Dear precious woman,
This morning, I stood in my kitchen holding a jar of honey from the local beekeeper down the road, and I wept. Not from sadness, but from the profound recognition of what it means to truly nourish ourselves, to choose, with radical consciousness, what we allow into our sacred vessel.
For so many years, I consumed without thinking. Not just food, but everything: toxic relationships that drained my spirit, media that fed my anxiety, thoughts that kept me small, obligations that honored everyone but myself. I was shopping in the supermarket of life with my eyes closed, filling my cart with whatever was convenient, whatever was marketed to my pain.
Until the day I realized: What I was consuming was consuming me.
The Marketplace of the Soul
We live in a world designed to keep us unconscious consumers, not just of products, but of energy, of stories, of ways of being that were never meant for us. We wander through life with our metaphorical shopping carts, grabbing whatever promises quick relief from the ache of not knowing who we are.
Another self-help book to fix what's broken.
Another relationship to fill what's empty.
Another achievement to prove what's worthy.
Another distraction from what's calling.
We have become so accustomed to this unconscious consumption that we've forgotten the most revolutionary act available to us: the sacred power of conscious choice.
What if the path to transformation isn't about adding more to your life, but about curating what stays?
The Ingredients of Your Days
A decade ago, when my life felt like it was imploding, I began an experiment that changed everything. I started reading the "ingredients label" of my daily existence. What was I actually consuming? What was I feeding my spirit, my mind, my energy field?
The results were sobering.
Morning consumption: Scrolling through social media before my feet hit the floor, filling my tender awakening consciousness with the curated highlights of others' lives.
Relationship consumption: Giving my precious energy to people who took without reciprocating, who demanded my light while offering only their shadows.
Mental consumption: Thoughts that ran on repeat—stories of not enough, too much, too late, too broken.
Emotional consumption: Carrying the weight of others' expectations, their disappointments, their definitions of who I should be.
Spiritual consumption: Seeking wisdom everywhere except within my own knowing heart.
I was literally poisoning myself with my own choices, and I had been doing it so unconsciously that I thought this was just "life."
The Great Awakening
The shift began not with grand gestures, but with the smallest act of rebellion: I stopped consuming the morning news with my coffee. Instead, I chose silence. I chose the sound of birds. I chose the whisper of my own soul stirring awake.
It was such a small thing, but it created a crack in the unconscious pattern. And through that crack, light began to seep in.
What if I could choose what entered my consciousness as carefully as I was learning to choose what entered my body?
What if I could curate my energy field the way an artist curates a gallery?
What if I could become the sovereign curator of my own life?
The Sacred Practice of Discernment
Learning to consume consciously is not about perfection; it's about presence. It's about developing the exquisite sensitivity to feel into what nourishes your authentic self versus what feeds the false self that was trained to please, to perform, to shrink.
This is the medicine our generation desperately needs. We have been trained to be unconscious consumers in every area of our lives. We've been marketed to at the level of our deepest wounds, sold solutions to problems we didn't know we had, convinced that our worth could be purchased.
But here, in this sacred season of your life, you have the opportunity to choose differently.
Five Sacred Shifts for Conscious Living
Shift One: Audit Your Energy Consumption
Begin by witnessing without judgment. For one week, simply notice:
- What thoughts do you consume first thing in the morning?
- Which relationships leave you energized versus depleted?
- What stories do you tell yourself about who you are?
- How does your physical environment make you feel?
- What information diet are you feeding your mind?
This is not about changing anything yet. This is about developing the sacred skill of witnessing.
Shift Two: Choose Your Morning Medicine
The first thirty minutes of your day set the energetic tone for everything that follows. Instead of immediately consuming external stimulation, create a ritual of conscious beginning:
- Place your feet on the earth
- Breathe into your body with gratitude
- Ask your soul what it needs today
- Choose one nourishing practice before consuming any external input
Your morning consciousness is sacred real estate. Guard it fiercely.
Shift Three: Practice Relational Discernment
Your energy is the most precious resource you have. Begin to notice:
- Which conversations leave you feeling expansive?
- Who sees and celebrates your authentic self?
- What relationships require you to abandon yourself to maintain them?
- Where do you give your power away to keep the peace?
It's not selfish to protect your energy. It's essential for your survival and transformation.
Shift Four: Curate Your Mental Environment
Begin choosing your thought consumption as consciously as you would choose your food:
- Limit news consumption to specific times and sources
- Unfollow social media accounts that trigger comparison or inadequacy
- Notice which thoughts you're recycling from childhood conditioning
- Actively feed your mind with content that supports your becoming
Your mind is a garden. What you water will grow.
Shift Five: Trust Your Inner Knowing
The most radical act is to stop outsourcing your wisdom to external authorities and begin trusting the ancient knowing that lives within you:
- Before making decisions, pause and feel into your body's response
- Notice the difference between mind chatter and soul whispers
- Trust your first instinct, especially when it conflicts with others' expectations
- Remember that your inner compass has never steered you wrong
You already know what you need to know. You're just learning to listen.
The Ripple Effect of Conscious Choice
As I began to choose more consciously what I consumed, energetically, emotionally, spiritually, everything began to shift. Not overnight, but with the gentle persistence of water wearing away stone.
I stopped giving my energy to relationships that required me to be smaller. I stopped consuming content that fed my insecurities. I stopped eating food that didn't truly nourish me. I stopped entertaining thoughts that kept me trapped in old stories.
And in the space that was created, something magnificent began to emerge: my authentic self.
The woman who had been waiting patiently beneath layers of unconscious consumption. The one who knew exactly what she needed, what she wanted, what she was here to create.
The Sacred Economics of Transformation
When we begin to consume consciously, we discover something revolutionary: we need so much less than we thought. Less stimulation, less validation, less stuff, less drama, less fixing, less improving, less everything except what truly matters.
In a world that profits from our unconsciousness, the act of conscious consumption becomes an act of revolution. Not against anything, but for everything that is real, true, and nourishing.
You are not a consumer.
You are a sovereign being with the sacred power to choose what enters your consciousness and shapes your reality.
An Invitation to Begin
Tonight, as you prepare for sleep, I invite you to perform one small act of conscious consumption: instead of scrolling through your phone, place your hands on your heart and breathe into the miracle of your own aliveness.
Feel into the woman you are beneath all the consumption, all the noise, all the external input. She is there, waiting. She has always been there.
Tomorrow, when you wake, before you consume anything from the outside world, spend five minutes consuming the medicine of your own presence. Notice how this one small shift begins to change everything.
This is not about perfection. This is about consciousness. This is about remembering that every choice is an opportunity to nourish the woman you are becoming.
What is one thing you're ready to stop consuming that no longer serves your highest good? What is one thing you're ready to choose that would truly nourish your authentic self?
I would love to hear about your own journey toward conscious living.
With profound reverence for your sacred choices,
Your companion in conscious becoming
P.S. Remember, beloved: You have been consuming unconsciously for so long that conscious choice might feel uncomfortable at first. This is not a sign that you're doing it wrong—it's a sign that you're waking up.
Trust the process. Trust yourself.
